A basic understanding of photographic principals (e.g. the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO) is a valuable asset. Beyond an ability to take better photographs (for documentation, model texturization, or simply creative expression), this understanding can be directly applied to the principals of close-range photogrammtery and laser scanning.
